Dixon
High School

September 16, 2009
Dear Parents,
We would like to thank you for your continued
support of the student-athletes of Dixon High School. Your positive
encouragement of their efforts reinforces the lessons our staff and
coaches are trying to teach.
However, as sports seasons progress and teams are
trying to make playoffs, the competitive emotions associated with
athletics and winning begin to run hotter. For this reason, we feel it
incumbent to remind you that you have all agreed to follow the athletic
code of conduct you signed at our parent / athlete information meeting.
Especially important in this document is the requirement that parents
and fans behave in a civil and positive way when cheering for your
team.
The consequences for failing to abide by these
rules will be your removal from events; furthermore, you may be
prohibited from attending any Dixon High School extracurricular events,
including those in which your student is participating. This loss of
privilege will apply to both home and away contests for the remainder of
the school year.
Please consider this letter a directive to obey
the rules outlined in the Athletic Code of Conduct. Failure to comply
with my directive will result in the involvement of the legal
authorities as noted in California Education Code 44811(a), “Any parent,
guardian, or other person whose conduct in a place where a school
employee is required to be in the course of his or her duties materially
disrupts classwork or extracurricular activities or involves substantial
disorder is guilty of a misdemeanor.”
Please note that all our coaches this year are
volunteers, and are attempting to run and coach the team to the best of
their abilities. Although they are volunteers, they are recognized as
employees of Dixon Unified School District. Should you have an issue
that you wish to address with a coach, please make an appointment with
the head coach to discuss your concerns. Please note, that directly
after an event is not the time to address concerns with coaches. After
contests emotions often run high, and the likelihood of having a
productive conversation at this time is slim. If you are unsatisfied
with the response from DHS coaching staff, you may choose to direct your
concerns to our Athletic Director, Nick Girimonte. You can reach him at
ngirimonte@dixonusd.org
or at 707-693-6330.
Should you wish to respond to my letter, please do
so in writing and direct it to me at Dixon High School.
Sincerely,
Ivan Chaidez
